This adorable series of whittled sea folk needlepoint canvases has arrived! This series came about thanks to a custom needlepoint request. One of my clients wanted a needlepoint canvas of a funny wooden sailor captain she and her friend found at an antique store and adored. When I posted the custom canvas, people loved him! These wooden figurines were popular among folk artists and hobby whittlers, and everyone knows someone's grandma who has one. Now they're here in needlepoint form! I did a lot of research on this genre of whittled folk art, and sailors of all shapes and sizes were represented. Pirates, captains, fish mongers, and more were whittled into shape, often by sailors themselves.
Perfect for standups, the design is 7.5" tall by approx. 2.5" wide on 18 mesh.
