Needlepoint Painting Classes - November 8, 2025

Join Spellbound Stitchery at our studio for an in-person class in Rutherfordton, NC!

Beginner Painting Class 10 am - 12 pm (2hrs) - Learn to paint needlepoint canvases from a chart! In this initial painting class, I teach all the tips, tricks, and step by step of how to paint a needlepoint canvas. All stitchers will leave with a painted canvas that is ready to stitch! 

Class includes a kit of all the supplies you need to paint a design from a chart. You will understand industry standards of needlepoint painting in this class. The beginner painting class is REQUIRED to move on to the Design Intensive Class! Can't take it in-person? Check out the online version.

Design Intensive Class 1 pm - 5 pm (4 hrs) - Learn how to design your very own 4" round needlepoint canvas! Learn the do's and don'ts of the needlepoint design process from start to finish. 

We will begin the class with a lecture all about design principles and elements so that you understand the basics of shadow, color, and how needlepoint design incorporates those important design basics. Next, we will dive in to the Stitchly app for iPad, do a tutorial together, and then practice using the app as each person will work on their own unique project. Finally, we will take what we worked on in the design software to needlepoint canvas and begin painting our designs. We will not have enough time to completely finish painting a 4" round, but you will get enough of an education in designing and painting to complete the project once you get home.

MUST FIRST COMPLETE A BEGINNER PAINTING CLASS! (Classes taken at other locations or online are accepted, you do not need to take the beginner class same-day.)

For class, painters should come prepared with a picture of something that they would like to have made into a 4" round design. Personal photographs are preferred. Bring your iPad, Apple Pencil, and download the Stitchly app.

Lunch will be provided to participants who sign up for both classes.
