Foxglove Hand Painted Needlepoint Canvas

This needlepoint canvas is intentionally painted GRAY, to make stitching with BLACK threads a breeze! Design is 8x8" on 13 mesh, total canvas width and height is 12x12". 

Here is the Foxglove, Digitalis purpurea. As a plant that is poisonous but also has curative properties, it’s said that foxgloves can both ‘raise the dead and kill the living’. Foxglove contains a chemical called digitalis that can be used to treat heart failure and high blood pressure by raising blood flow and increasing the body’s defence mechanisms. However, the plant is poisonous if consumed directly, and can cause a number of health problems. Other names for foxglove include goblin gloves, witches' gloves and dead men's bells. 

As a gardener and an artist, I have been dying to bring some dark florals to needlepoint. These designs bring to mind a dark academia aesthetic, and show a rich and lush color palette for a brooding but elegant look. These flowers aren't meant to be consumed, but they are a joy to admire, both in the garden and in art.
