The athleticism and strength of cowboys, horses, and cattle alike are all celebrated in one of the most iconic American events: the Rodeo! The history of cowboys in America is incomplete without a full appreciation and recognition of the role of black, hispanic, and indigenous cowboys played in developing the ranching lifestyle of the American West.
The Black Rodeo collection is a part of the Heritage Collection collaboration with Kathryn McLaurin.
What is a Rodeo Queen? Similar to a beauty pageant, contestants for a Miss Rodeo pageant go through an appearance, interview, and speech competition. However, Miss Rodeo contestants are also required to show their horsemanship skills. This portion requires Miss Rodeo contestants to learn a set AQHA (American Quarter Horse Association) reining pattern that shows their control of the horse in certain moves, and perform a freestyle set to a song of their choice to showcase their personality and skill. A Rodeo Queen's traditional duties during the opening ceremonies of a rodeo include carrying and presenting the American flag during the singing of the national anthem.
Design is 5x7" on 18 mesh; total canvas dimension is 9x11". StitchPerfect Printed.
