Strength Tarot Needlepoint Canvas

The Strength tarot card design is 3x4" on 18 mesh, printed using StitchPerfect™ Printing technology. The canvas outer dimensions are 7x8".

The Strength Tarot card reminds us that strength is not always masculine or violent. On the contrary, this card shows us a woman taming a lion, with a gentle touch and kind demeanor. Strength is how we face the world, but also how we tame the roiling emotions and self-sabotaging influences within our hidden psyche. Strength is not only physical, but mental and emotional - and it is sometimes a calm control and ownership of our shadow self.

What I love most about needlepointing the tarot is the ability to sit with the image and the archetype for hours at a time, letting the symbols and meanings swirl around in our minds for more insights and understandings to come through. Stitching a card is not simply picking it up, looking at it, and then putting it back, it is spending dozens of hours with it, stitching it, engaging with it, and coming closer to an awareness of its meaning and how that relates to the self. You may find insights and wisdom from the card’s design that isn’t read in a book or found in commentary - you may gain something uniquely yours.

I plan to stitch my card with fyre werks metallic for the gold outlines, velvet for the lion’s body, something fuzzy for the lion’s mane and tail, and ribbon work for the flowers - probably a combination of French knots and ribbon rosettes.
