The World Tarot card is the last card in the major arcana cycle of the tarot. It represents the completion of a cycle, the fulfillment of goals and achievement of the same. The World can represent the end of a cycle, usually one that has big personal impact on us in a positive way. It can also refer to the culmination of a creative project, or the joy that results from a major breakthrough, commitment, or achievement. Also known as the “world dancer,” it encourages us to move with the world and through it, embracing the potential that comes with change and the freedom of being in the moment, unburdened by the past and by expectations.

What I love most about needlepointing the tarot is the ability to sit with the image and the archetype for hours at a time, letting the symbols and meanings swirl around in our minds for more insights and understandings to come through. Stitching a card is not simply picking it up, looking at it, and then putting it back, it is spending dozens of hours with it, stitching it, engaging with it, and coming closer to an awareness of its meaning and how that relates to the self. You may find insights and wisdom from the card’s design that isn’t read in a book or found in commentary - you may gain something uniquely yours.
