Transgressive women and women in power are called witches in the contemporary United States just as they were hundreds of years ago. The derogatory use of the label "Witch" is used to reinforce gender inequality and marginalize women who push back against our patriarchal society. It is used to harm, to other, and to make it easier to dehumanize or villainize people.

While this needlepoint design is ABSOLUTELY a fun and festive way to decorate for spooky season (my favorite season!) I also see it as a call to claim your power and push back against injustice, wherever you may find it. The season is now.
